Fixer, Or Turnkey Home?

Is it Worth Your Time and Money?

This is one of the most common questions buyers ask, especially here in Los Angeles. A turnkey home means the property is move-in ready. The kitchen is updated, the bathrooms are remodeled, and you usually won’t need to do much work. The downside? You’re paying a premium for those upgrades.

A fixer, on the other hand, usually needs work — maybe the roof, the plumbing, or a full renovation. But the benefit is the lower purchase price and the opportunity to create value.

In many neighborhoods like Highland Park or Eagle Rock, some buyers intentionally look for fixers so they can remodel the home the way they want and build equity over time.

So which one is better?

If you want convenience and less stress, a turnkey home might be the way to go. But if you’re comfortable with renovations and want to build value, a fixer could be a great opportunity.

The right choice really depends on your budget, timeline, and risk tolerance.
